Artificial intelligence will change the preparation of teaching materials in the future, also in high school. In this example, I am describing a situation in Finland, where the association offers free learning material to high school students. But if we leave out the payer and focus on reducing costs, structured AI content production can cut costs considerably.

According to the 2019 figures of the Finnish Publishing Association, the cost of teaching materials in Finland is around 30 million euros. This cost can therefore be reduced with the help of a structured AI production application.

Using artificial intelligence, it would be possible to produce teaching materials in a cost-effective way in a new way, such as ready-made learning content, so-called theory and practice tasks, tests and even automatically check the tasks.

Eximiatutor AI assessment technology and content production structured AI-assisted application is intended for modern learning materials production and at the same time to get learning materials more affordable. In this case, it would be possible for some of the high school teachers to apply to become creators of learning materials. This would create a modern variation between tasks for the teaching staff and offer teachers a change from traditional teaching work.
In terms of family politics, such a change of tasks would make the job of a teacher even more attractive. Traditionally, in Finland, the production of learning material for upper secondary schools has been a process that takes years, in addition to the own work of a few teachers. The new model would be diverse and more flexible according to the spirit of the times. An added value would also be that content creators could act as interactive development groups, e.g. when updating curricula.

It’s amazing how effectively content, tasks and tests can be produced with modern technology and especially with the help of artificial intelligence. The only criterion is that the author of the materials is a competent professional, then the quality can be guaranteed and cost-effective solutions are achieved. It is also possible for more teachers to prepare learning materials, which increases the discussion about the content and also produces new solutions and promotes teaching.

In Finland, approximately 1,800 high school teachers are employed with 90 million annually. The question is how many teachers we would need in Finland to produce and provide learning materials to students. If well coordinated, then 50 – 100 teachers will perform the task, in which case the salary cost varies in the range of 2.5 – 5 million. There are about 15 subjects in high school, so the number of courses can act as a weighted divider between subjects.

It is therefore possible to drop the costs to around one-sixth to at least one-fifth of the now budgeted costs. So, using technology in a new way, the learning materials could be obtained for 3.5 – 7.5 million. The assessment presented here is indicative, but so interesting that we are sure that in the future sooner or later artificial intelligence structured content production AIs will enter the market. Eximiatutor is ready to discuss and launch the first content production solutions.

Private publishers and service providers could produce and organize the service and increase their operating margin on top. With the help of today’s artificial intelligence technology, it is possible for private companies to produce learning materials by hiring teachers at a cost of 7.5 to 15 million euros, i.e. half cheaper than today. In other words, the potential cost benefit of artificial intelligence technology in high school material procurement is half of the current costs.

With the new solution, the development of learning materials is continuous and students have access to learning materials based on recent scientific knowledge.
